Gujarat
– In Gujarat as well, temperatures have increased rapidly in many districts and a yellow alert has been issued in several cities including Ahmedabad. Temperatures have been recorded several degrees above normal and heat is expected to increase in the coming days.

– A heatwave is declared when the maximum temperature exceeds 40°C and is at least 4.5°C above normal.
– According to the IMD, if the temperature is more than 6.4°C above normal, a severe heatwave is declared.
– The declaration of a heatwave varies for different regions.
– This situation occurs when the maximum temperature reaches at least 40°C in plains, 37°C in coastal areas, and 30°C in hilly regions.
– A severe heatwave is declared when the maximum temperature crosses 47°C.
