– In other words, a volcano is a vent or opening present on the Earth’s surface, through which lava, ash, molten rocks, and gases erupt from the Earth’s interior.

– Within the mantle of the Earth (one of the three parts of the Earth), there is a weak region called the asthenosphere, and magma is present in it.
– Volcanic hotspots are locations found where the tectonic plates of the Earth meet.
There are an estimated one million underwater volcanoes, most of which are located near tectonic plates.
– When tectonic plates collide, temperature and pressure increase. Subsequently, magma forms, which is molten material beneath the Earth’s surface.
– When this same magma comes out of the Earth’s inner layer, it is called lava.
