– France-UAE $1 Billion Space-AI Deal: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) signed a $1 billion agreement with France’s space company Loft Orbital. Under this, a network of 50 AI-enabled satellites capable of processing data in space will be developed.
– European Reusable Spaceplane ‘Vortex’: France’s Dassault Aviation and Germany’s OHB jointly presented the reusable spaceplane ‘Vortex’ project. This small shuttle is being developed to carry supplies and research payloads to the ISS (International Space Station) to reduce dependence on American capsules.
– France-Germany Space Partnership: The two countries signed new joint budgets and shared programmes for commercial launches, research, and satellite technologies.
– IRIS² Project Approved: The European Union reaffirmed the timeline and investment framework for its multi-billion-euro secure satellite network IRIS².

Indrapuri Barrage Water Dispute on the Son River Resolved
– The long-standing dispute related to the Indrapuri Barrage located on the Son River has now ended.
– In fact, under the 1973 Bansagar Agreement, undivided Bihar was allocated 7.75 million acre-feet (MAF) of water.
– Jharkhand had repeatedly demanded its share of this water, which had stalled Bihar’s Indrapuri project.
– Now an agreement has been reached that Bihar will receive 5.75 MAF and Jharkhand will receive 2.00 MAF of water.
– This decision will provide stability to irrigation facilities in Bhojpur, Buxar, Rohtas, Kaimur, Aurangabad, Patna, Gaya, and Arwal districts.
Indrapuri Barrage
– Indrapuri Barrage is also known as Son Barrage.
– It is located on the Son River in Rohtas district of Bihar.
– The barrage is 1,407 metres (4,616 feet) long.
– It is also claimed to be the fourth-longest barrage in the world.
– Construction of this barrage began in the 1960s and it was commissioned in 1968. A large amount of its work is still pending.
Son River
– The Son River originates from the Amarkantak Plateau located in Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh.
– Amarkantak is also the place from where the Narmada River and Johila River originate.
– The Son River joins the Ganga River near the Danapur area of Patna, although this confluence has now shifted considerably backward and is considered to be near Pandarak (Bihar).
Note – Consent for this agreement had already been reached in July 2025 at the 27th Eastern Zonal Council meeting. The meeting was held in Ranchi at that time.

Article 142
– Article 142 is included in Part 5 (The Union), Chapter 4 (The Union Judiciary) of the Indian Constitution.
– This Article gives the Supreme Court the special power to do ‘complete justice’.
– Under this, if other laws do not apply in a case, the decision of the Court is considered supreme.
– This Article is divided into two parts.
– Article 142 (1) and Article 142 (2)
– Article 142 (1) gives the Supreme Court the power that if complete justice cannot be achieved in a case under the existing law, the Supreme Court can issue a different order departing from that law.
– This order will remain in force until the Government or Parliament makes a specific provision regarding the matter.
– Article 142 (2) gives the Supreme Court the power to summon a person, call for documents, and investigate the case of a convicted person.
– Apart from this, it also has the power to punish the convicted person.
