WBCS Exam Eligibility Criteria: –

Eligibility: – Candidate should have a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institute for WBCS Exam Eligibility Criteria. Further it is mandatory for the applicant to have ability to read, write and speak in Bengali except for Nepali candidates.

Pay scale: – The pay scale and gross emoluments at entry level for selected candidates will be as follows.

For Group – A: – Candidates will be placed in pay band 4A and get Rs 15600 to 42000 plus grade pay of 5400 per month. Gross emoluments at the entry level are Rs 21000 per month besides DA, MA and HRA admissible as per rules.

  • Candidates will be placed in pay band 4 and get Rs 9600 to 40500 plus grade pay of 4800 per month. Gross emoluments at the entry level are Rs 15960 per month besides DA, MA and HRA admissible as per rules.

  • For Group C (posts 2 to 6) Candidates will be placed in pay band 4 and get Rs 9000 to 40500 plus grade pay of 4700 per month. Gross emoluments at the entry level are Rs 14930 per month besides DA, MA and HRA admissible as per rules.

7) Assistant Canal Revenue Officer (Irrigation).

8) Chief Controller of Correctional Services.

  • For Group C (post 7 & 8) Candidates will be placed in pay band 4 and get Rs 9000 to 42000 plus grade pay of 4400 per month. Gross emoluments at the entry level are Rs 13400 per month besides DA, MA and HRA admissible as per rules.

For Group – D: – Candidates will be placed in pay band 3 and get Rs 7100 to 37600 plus grade pay of 3900 per month. Gross emoluments at the entry level are Rs 12270 per month besides DA, MA and HRA admissible as per rules.

Age limit: – Applicant should have attained the age of 21 years but not 32 years as on 01 January of the year of exam for WBCS Exam Eligibility Criteria. Therefore the candidate should be born between 01 January 1985 and 02 January 1996. For Group-B posts minimum age limit is 20 years.

Age relaxation: – Upper age limit in the WBCS Exam Eligibility Criteria will be relaxed for reserved category candidates of West Bengal domicile as follows.

  • For SC/ ST candidates – 05 years.
  • For BC candidates – 03 years.
  • And for PWD candidates – maximum age limit is 45 years.
  • SC/ ST / BC candidates of other states shall be treated as general candidates

Application fee: – A non-refundable application fee of Rs 210 plus service charge as applicable will be charged from all candidates for WBCS Exam 2017. However SC, ST and PWD candidates (with more than 40% disability) of West Bengal are exempted from paying fee.

Mode of payment: – Application fee can be paid through both online and offline modes as directed by the WBPSC website. For online mode candidate should use credit card, debit card or net banking etc. For offline mode challan should be generated and fee be paid subsequently as directed.

WBCS Exam Selection Process: –

Selection process: – WBCS Exam Selection Process will be based on competitive written examinations. Those who rank high enough in the merit will be called for a personality test. Finally selected candidates will undergo a medical examination.

Date and centre of examination: – The date of preliminary test of WBCS Exam 2017 is 29 January 2017. It will be conducted at Kolkata, Baruipur, Diamond Harbour, Barrackpore, Barasat, Howrah, Burdwan, Asansol, Medinipur, Tamluk, Bankura, Berhampore, Malda, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Cooch Behar,Siliguri and Darjeeling. West Bengal Civil Service (Executive), popularly known as WBCS (Exe), is the civil services of the Indian state of West Bengal. The WBCS Exam Selection Process is based on annual Competitive Examination conducted by West Bengal Public Service Commission. The officers are included in the state cadre of civil service officers. The WBCS (Exe) Officers are usually appointed as Deputy Magistrate & Deputy Collector and start their career as Block Development Officer (BDO). The Officers of the cadre perform the key administrative functions at different levels of various departments of the state. However, WBCS (Exe) officers may also be nominated at a later stage of their career to All India Services as IAS officers.
