UPSC Combined Medical Services Exam (1009 Posts): – Union Public Service Commission (U.P.S.C.) has issued a notification for conducting Combined Medical Services Examination-2016 for the recruitment of 1009 Assistant Medical Officer, General Duty Medical Officer and Junior Scale Posts. Eligible candidates may apply online from 05 March 2016 to 01 April 2016. Other details like age limit, educational qualification, selection process and how to apply are given below.

Qualification: – Candidates should have passed M.B.B.S. degree (written and practical parts of the final M.B.B.S. Examination) from recognized University or institute.
Physical and Medical Standards: – Candidates must be physically and medically fit according to the physical/ medical standards for the Combined Medical Services Examination-2016.
Age limit: – A candidate for this examination must not have attained the age of 32 years as on 1st January 2016.
Age relaxation: – The upper age limit relax able up to 03 years for O.B.C. and 05 years for SC, ST candidates as per government rules.
Pay scale: – Rs 15600-39100 plus grade pay 5400 per month.
Application fee: – Candidates pay a non-refundable application fee of Rs 200 by depositing the money in any branch of S.B.I. by cash, or by using net banking facility of S.B.I., State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur or State Bank of Hyderabad or State Bank of Mysore or State Bank of Patiala or State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa or Master Credit or Debit Card.
SC, ST, P.W.D. and female candidates are exempted from payment of application fee.
Selection process: – Candidates will be selected on the basis of computer based examination and personal interview. Candidates shortlisted on the basis of their performance in the written test will be intimated to appear for personal interview.
The examination shall be conducted according to the following plan:-
(A) Computer based examination – 500 marks.
(B) Personality test – 100 marks.
Scheme of examination:-
(A) Computer based examination: – The components and syllabus of two Papers and the weightage to different components in the two papers are given below: –
(a) General Ability – 30 questions.
(b) General Medicine – 70 questions.
(c) Paediatrics – 20 questions.
(a) Surgery – 40 questions.
(b) Gynaecology & Obstetrics – 40 questions.
(c) Preventive & Social – 40 questions.
(B) Personality test: – Candidates who qualify in the computer based examination will be called for interview or personality test to be conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. The interview or personality test will carry 100 marks.
Exam date: – The Union Public Service Commission will hold a written examination on 12 June 2016.
