SBI PO Prelims Exam Pattern: –

The most basic but least bothered point about SBI PO Prelims Exam Pattern is qualification. Applicants are often unaware of the same. A candidate must obtain marks above the cut-off decided by the SBI. Further the cut-off is decided for each section and for the exam overall.

The candidates need to understand that merely qualifying this exam would render them eligible for the main exam. Moreover, extra effort should not be made at attempting the questions in this stage as it may backfire. Aspirants should attempt questions uniformly in all sections. In all attempting about seventy questions confidently is enough to qualify.

  • Duration of exam is 60 minutes. One mark is allotted for every correct answer
  • For every wrong answer 0.25 marks are deducted

In prelims exam, time should be managed accordingly in the exam as well as while preparing. It is so because there would a combined time of 60 minutes.

SBI PO Mains Exam Pattern

The next step after prelims is the main exam. Further the marks obtained in the mains exam are counted for the final merit list. Unlike prelims it is not limited to qualifying. So you need to qualify and score as high as possible at the same time. Moreover all questions are objective in nature with up-to five alternate choices like prelims. NOTE:

Duration of exam is 180 minutes.
For every wrong answer 0.25 marks are deducted.

Unlike prelims exam, the mains exam will have section-wise time duration. There would be section wise and overall cutoff. Scoring above the sectional cutoff is a must. However overall marks scored will decide the place in merit list.

Descriptive Test (a part of Main Exam)

A descriptive type test will also be conducted with the main exam. The Descriptive Test will be of 30 minutes duration and 50 marks. It will be a Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay). The candidates are required to qualify in the Descriptive Test by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank. Descriptive Test paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who have scored qualifying marks in the Objective Tests and are placed adequately high as per total marks in Objective Test.

The last stage in the SBI PO exam is interview (30 marks) & GD (20 marks). Only the marks obtained in Main Examination will be added to the marks obtained in GD & Interview for preparation of the final merit list. The candidates will have to qualify both in main exam and interview separately. Marks secured by the candidates in the Written Test (out of 250 marks) are converted to out of 75 and marks secured in Group Discussion & Interview (out of 50 marks) are converted to out of 25. The final merit list is arrived at after aggregating converted marks of Written Test and Group Discussion &Interview out of 100 for each category. The selection will be made from the top merit ranked candidates in each category.

Candidates have to pay examination fee plus intimation charges as follows.
