General overview of clerical mains as shared by many candidates:
With a new system each section of SBI clerk mains exam topics had a time limit within which candidates need to complete answering the questions in it.
All candidates had to answer questions only in the following order, because the order of online test was fixed.
- General awareness (35 mins),
- English language (35 min),
- Reasoning ability & Computer aptitude (45 mins)
- Quantitative aptitude (45 mins),
Many candidates grew nervous thinking about the time limit. Because they cannot move to another section midway for manage time.
General/ Financial Awareness:
Safe attempts to qualify: Answering 32+ questions correctly gives a best chance to qualify in this part.
Note – Though the question was not so hard, it was not easy as well. In-addition to banking & economy related questions, there were also traditional/ static GK such as parks, lakes, headquarters, rivers etc.,
Safe attempts: 30+ correct answers
Note – The questions were similar to that of prelims. Reading comprehension, Para-jumbles, Cloze tests, Sentence correction & etc were topics asked.
Reasoning & Computer aptitude:
Safe attempts: 30+ answers with good accuracy
Note – There was a hope of getting at-least 20 computer awareness questions along with reasoning questions.
But it had only aptitude problems to solve involving symbolic representations & binary digits. It was a major disappointment for candidates who expected some basic questions on computers, which are easy to answer.
Coming to reasoning problems, the difficulty level was between easy to moderate. Some topics are:
- Input/ Output
- Data sufficiency
Safe attempts: 25+ with 100% accuracy should be good enough to qualify
Note – The inability to recognize the concept was the biggest problem because only few questions were direct. All others required understanding of concepts first.
- Number series
- Quadratic equations
- Simple/ Compound interest
- Data sufficiency
- Time & work/distance
- Data interpretation
With just 45 minutes limit, few candidates found it hard to answer after their poor show in the remaining sections.
