Online applications are invited from unmarried male candidates (who fulfill eligibility conditions as laid down by the Government of India) for enrolment as sailors for AA and SSR for 500 & 2000 vacancies (Approximately) respectively in the Aug 2021 batch. The vacancies will be earmarked in a state-wise manner. For the total of 2500 vacancies, approximately 10000 candidates will be called for written examination and Physical Fitness Test (PFT). The cut off marks for appearing in written examination may vary from state to state.

Vacancy details of Indian Navy Sailors Recruitment: –

Total Vacancy: – 2500 Posts.

1) Artificer Apprentice (AA) – 500 Posts.
2) Senior Secondary Recruits (SSR) – 2000 Posts.

* Artificer Apprentice (AA) – The job specification of an artificer (as per specialisation) includes working on steam powered machinery, diesel and gas turbines, guided missiles and other automatically controlled weapon, sensors avionic equipment, computers and highly advanced radio and electrical power systems.

** Senior Secondary Recruits (SSR) – The work is divided amongst different teams that do different kinds of jobs. It could be operations of various equipment such as radars, sonars or communications or firing of weapons such as missiles, guns or rockets.

Eligibility Criteria for Indian Navy Sailors Recruitment: –

(a) Artificer Apprentice (AA) – Qualified in 10+2 examination with 60% or more marks in aggregate with Math’s & Physics and at least one of these subjects: – Chemistry/Biology/Computer Science from the Boards of School Education recognised by MHRD, Govt. of India.

(b) Senior Secondary Recruits (SSR) – Qualified in 10+2 examination with Math’s & Physics and at least one of these subjects: – Chemistry/Biology/Computer Science from the Boards of School Education recognised by MHRD, Govt. of India

Age Limit: – Candidates should be born between 01 Feb 2002 to 31 Jan 2005 (Both dates inclusive).

Pay & Allowances: – During the initial training period, a stipend of 14,600/- per month will be admissible. On successful completion of initial training, they will be placed in Level 3 of the Defence Pay Matrix ( 21,700- 69,100). In addition, they will be paid MSP @ ₹ 5200/- per month plus DA (as applicable) plus ‘X’ Group pay {only for Artificer Apprentice (AA)} @ ₹ 3600/- per month plus DA (as applicable) as under trainee and ₹ 6200/- per month plus DA on successful completion of AICTE recognized Diploma Course.

Promotion: – Promotion prospects exist up to the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer-I, i.e. Level 8 of the Defence Pay Matrix (₹ 47,600- ₹ 1,51,100) plus MSP @ ₹ 5200/- per month plus DA (as applicable). Opportunities for promotion to commissioned officer also exist for those who perform well and qualify the prescribed examinations and clear Services Selection Boards.

Selection Process: – As per candidate’s performance in Examination & Physical Test. The shortlisting of the candidates for written examination and PFT will be undertaken on the basis of percentage of qualifying examination (10+2 examination). The cut off marks may vary from state to state as vacancies have been allocated in a state-wise manner.

Written Test: –

  • The question paper will be bilingual (Hindi & English) and objective type.
  • The question paper will comprise of four sections i.e. English, Science, Mathematics and General Knowledge.
  • The standard of the question paper will be that of 10+2 level and the syllabus for the examination is available on website www.joinindiannavy.gov.in.
  • Duration of examination will be one hour. (e) All candidates appearing for written examination would be subjected to PFT on the same day.

Physical Fitness Test (PFT): –

  • Qualifying in Physical Fitness Test (PFT) is mandatory for selection.
  • PFT will consist of 6 Km run to be completed in 7 minutes, 20 squats (Uthak Baithak) and 10 Push-ups. Candidates undergoing PFT will do so at their own risk.

Medical Standards: –

  • Medical examination will be conducted by authorised military doctors as per medical standard prescribed in current regulations applicable to sailors on entry.
  • Minimum height 157 cms. Weight and Chest should be proportionate. Minimum Chest expansion of 5 cms.
  • Good mental, medical and physical health free from any disease/ disability, likely to interfere with efficient performance of duties. Colour perception: CP II. No Cardio- vascular disease, surgical deformities like knock knee, flat feet etc. Infection of ears, no history of fits or psychiatric ailment, vericose vein, corrective surgery for eyesight etc. Medical standard should be as per the detailed guidelines issued by IHQ MoD (Navy) in NO (Spl) 01/2008.
  • Candidates are advised to get their ears cleaned for wax and tartar removed from teeth prior to examination.

Visual Standards: –
Indian Navy Sports Quota Recruitment

Tattoos: –Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face of forearms i.e from inside of elbow to the wrist and on the reversed side of palm/ back (dorsal) side of hand. Permanent body tattoos on any other part of the body is not acceptable and candidate will be barred from recruitment.

Job Specifications: –

  • Chef They would be required to prepare food as per menu (both vegetarian and non-vegetarian including handing of meat products) accounting of ration. In addition, they will also be allotted other duties as per service requirement.
  • StewardThey would be required to ser e food in the officer’s messes, as waiters, housekeeping, accounting of funds, wine and stores, preparation of menu etc. In addition, they will also be allotted other duties as per service requirement.
  • Hygienist – They will be required to clean washroom, shower spaces and other areas. In addition, they will also be allotted other duties as per service requirement.
