IGNOU Recruitment Eligibility Criteria: –
Qualification: – To be eligible for the Junior Assistant cum Typist (JAT) post, a candidate must have passed their 12th standard or an equivalent examination from a recognized board or university. Additionally, candidates must possess a typing speed of 40 words per minute in English or 35 words per minute in Hindi on computer.
Age Limit: – The age limit for the applicants is set between 18 to 27 years. The online application process for the JAT post will start on 22 March 2023, and candidates can apply online until 20 April 2023.
Age Relaxation: – Yes, age relaxation is provided to certain categories as per the government norms. The following age relaxation is applicable for the Junior Assistant cum Typist (JAT) post in IGNOU:
- SC/ST category candidates: 5 years
- OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) category candidates: 3 years
- PwD category candidates: 10 years

Exam Pattern & Syllabus
Selection Process: – The selection process for the Junior Assistant cum Typist (JAT) post in IGNOU consists of a Computer Based Test (CBT) and a Typing Test. The details of the selection process are as follows:
Tier-I : Computer Based Test (CBT)
The first stage of the selection process is the CBT, which will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in a Bilingual (Hindi/English) mode. The CBT will consist of objective-type questions and will assess the candidates’ knowledge in areas such as General Awareness, Reasoning Ability, Arithmetic, and General Hindi-English. The CBT is the primary stage of the selection process, and candidates who qualify based on their performance in the CBT will be called for the Typing Test.
Tier-II : Typing Test:
Candidates who qualify for the CBT will be called for the Typing Test, which will be qualifying in nature. The Typing Test will assess the candidates’ typing speed and accuracy in English or Hindi, as per their choice. Candidates who have opted for the English typing test must have a typing speed of 30 words per minute, and those who have opted for the Hindi typing test must have a typing speed of 25 words per minute.
Final Selection: – The final selection of candidates will be based on their performance in the CBT. However, it is important to note that candidates must also qualify in the Typing Test to be considered for the post. The merit list of selected candidates will be prepared based on their performance in the CBT.
