IBPS Specialist Officer Recruitment 2017 – Apply online for 4000 SO Vacancies

IBPS SO, IBPS Specialist Officer Exam 2016 – 2017 for recruitment of specialist officer vacancies in public sector banks has been announced. Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) recently declared Notification of standard Recruitment process of specialist officer 6 (SO VI Exam). Students who want to become I.T. Officer (Scale-I), Agricultural Field Officer (Scale-I), Rajbhasha Adhikari (Scale-I), Law Officer (Scale-I), HR/ Personnel Officer (Scale-I), Marketing Officer (Scale-I) Posts, they caln apply.
Just like ibps PO (officer –scale I) & ibps Clerks, Specialist Officer positions work in specific departments, which are present in all govt banks.Since IBPS SO exam is being released in November, joining/ allotments will happen in 2017 – 2018.

Although banks are said to be more interested in appointing officers with specialized knowledge than generalists, the number of vacancies created in previous years for such people were only low.
What is IBPS SO VI Exam?
IBPS SO 2017 – 18 or Specialist Officer recruitment is currently being conducted for the 6th consecutive year & that is reason why you see letter ‘VI’ being mentioned in the notice.

As part of IBPS SO 2016 – 2017 recruitment, a total of 4122 vacancies are created for 20 public sector banks across India.
- I.T.OFFICER (SCALE-I) – 335 posts
- AGRICULTURAL FIELD OFFICER (SCALE-I) – 2580 posts.
- RAJBHASHA ADHIKARI (SCALE-I) – 65 posts.
- LAW OFFICER (SCALE-I) – 115 posts.
- HR/ PERSONNEL OFFICER (SCALE-I) – 81 posts.
- MARKETING OFFICER (SCALE-I) – 946 posts.
Who are Eligible?
Eligibility criteria for registrants to fulfill for this IBPS SPL VI are listed below for each discipline. Please Read them carefully.
- Age should be 20 – 30 years as on Nov 1, 2016 (add +3 yrs for OBC, +5yrs for SC/ST, +10yrs for PWD)
- Must have completed graduation as on December 2, 2016 in any of the following streams:
|I.T.Officer||4 year BE/ Btech in UG or PG in IT/ Computer science/ Computer applications/ Electronics/ ECE/ Electronics & Instrumentation/ Electronics & Telecommunication OR Any degree with DOEACC level ‘B’ certificate.|
|Agriculture field officer||4 yr Degree in agriculture OR subjects related to agri. sciences such as Horticulture/ Veterinary Science/ Pisciculture/ Agriculture Business Management/ Food Technology/ Dairy Technology/ Agricultural Engineering|
|HR/ Personnel officer||Any UG degree & PG in Personnel management/ Industrial relations/ HR/ Social work/ Labour law|
|Marketing officer||Any UG degree & 2 yr MBA/ MMS (marketing)/ PGDBA/ PGDBM with marketing specialization|
|Law Officer||Degree in Law (LLB) & enrolled as advocate in Bar council|
There are no Scale II or III exams in this year`s IBPS SO recruitment.
* Except those who are applying for IT officer, applicants registering for other post should have studied computers/ IT as a subject in high school/ college or any institute & hold a degree/ diploma or certificate.
Testing Methods of IBPS Specialist Officers exam
IBPS had taken online route for PO & clerical CWEs. Similarly specialist officer examination would also be a computer based test.
But it will have main examination only in a slightly different format
- Online written exam to be conducted at various centres in India in January 2017
- 200 objective questions to be answered within 120 minutes.
Your scores in Reasoning, English & Quantitative aptitude sections will not be considered while shortlisting for interviews.
Only Professional knowledge marks will be taken for final selections.
A paper/ section on ‘Professional Knowledge’ for 80 marks with questions from the subject related to the post you apply (Agriculture for agri field officers, Computers & IT for IT officer, Marketing for marketing officer).
Even if you are eligible for more than one position, application must be submitted for any one post. Fee of Rs.100 (SC/ST) or Rs.600 (others) must be paid between Nov 16 – Dec 2 via
Online – through netbanking, credit/ debit cards.The facility is made available at the IBPS website itself.
As proof of successful payment, please print the e-receipt after funds transfer. These original receipts should be handed over at exam centre.
- After collecting the necessary details, proceed to submit online application form given at www.ibps.in
- If registered successfully, you will receive an email or sms with a reg. number & password that must be noted to download or print call letters in future.
Candidates are required to produce their documents & certificates at the time of Interview. Therefore make sure to specify your details correctly in online application form.
