CGPSC State Service Exam 2016 for 293 Vacancies: – Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) has released a notification to recruit candidates for 293 vacancies for State Service Posts. These posts are on permanent basis.
Candidates will be selected through a CGPSC State Service Exam. Eligible candidates can apply online from 05 December 2016 to 03 January 2017.

CGPSC State Service Exam Eligibility Criteria: –
Eligibility: – Candidate should have passed a graduate degree examination from a university or institute recognized by UGC under section-3 of the UGC Act. Any other equivalent qualification is also acceptable.
Age limit: – The age limit for candidates aspiring for different services is as follows. The age will be counted as on 01 January 2016.
- For Dy. Superintendent of Police – Between 21 years and 28 years.
- For all other posts – Between 21 years and 30 years.
Age relaxation: – The applicable relaxation in age as per government rules is given as follows.
- SC/ ST/ OBC (Non Creamy Layer) – 05 years.
- Ex-Servicemen – 03 years.
- Candidates employed in state department of Chhattisgarh – 03 years.
- Widows – 05 years.

CGPSC State Service Exam Selection Process: –
Selection process: – Candidates will be selected on the basis of competitive written examinations and personality test. The written examination will be conducted in two phases. Candidates who qualify the preliminary examination will be allowed to appear in the subsequent stage- the main examination.
A cutoff will be decided by the commission for the main examination too. Candidates scoring above the cutoff will be eligible for the final stage- the interview. A combined merit list comprising of the successful candidates will be prepared on the basis of performance in main exam and interview. The scheme of CGPSC State Exam is as follows.
- Main exam – 1400 marks.
- Interview – 150 marks.
Total marks considered to make final merit list are 1550 marks.

About CGPSC State Service Exam
Under the re-organization of Madhya Pradesh, the State of Chhattisgarh came into existence on 1st November 2000 and Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission was formed under the provision of Act 315 of the Constitution of India on 23rd May 2001. The commission is to perform various functions. It conducts examinations for the appointments in the state and advises the state government. CGPSC advices the state government on all matters related with the state civil service, on matters related with the eligibility, transfer and promotion of the civil servants and on matters related with monetary benefits and compensation to the civil servant by the state government.
