How Bo Banks Recruit?
If you are thinking how banks announce recruitment, then here is the answer. The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts all the examinations and ensures smooth selection process. IBPS is responsible to conduct recruitments for more than 20 banks. Even RBI takes assistance from IBPS to conduct Grade-B and Assistant Exams.
- Candidates who qualify the exam clearing all stages such as Prelims, Mains and interview (as applicable) are allocated place in the final merit list.
- IBPS introduced the concept of sectional and overall cutoff. Now candidates have score above the cutoff marks in each subject and the exam overall. IBPS releases cutoffs later.
- Candidates who are ranked high in the merit list get chance to work in the bank they preferred for while filling application forms. Others with lower ranks are automatically allotted the leftover banks to work in.

Growing Competition in Bank Jobs
Various banks announce vacancies which sum up to be approximately just a few thousand. However large numbers of candidates appear in the tests. So the competition is growing and so is the number of aspirants.
- About 1.27 crore candidates registered on the IBPS website the previous year.
- According to various surveys and calculations about 40 lakh candidates appear for Clerical exams conducted by IBPS. However 20 – 25 lakh appear in the PO examinations.
SBI Recruitments in 2017?
State Bank of India does not participate in the IBPS common written examinations. Separate recruitment notifications are issued by SBI for PO, Clerk, Specialist Officer & Manager level posts.
During the current year SBI released PO and Clerk vacancies on large scale. So it is not expected that vacancies for these posts will be announced in the year 2017. But unpredictability remains, so if any recruitment notifications are released, the same would be updated on our page.
How Many Bank Jobs in 2017?
As the New Year ascends so does the question – How many Bank jobs will be created in 2017?
According to economists and bank specialists, it is expected that rise of India Post Payment Banks will generate more and more bank jobs. The recruitment process for Officer scale in IPPB is under progress. So some more clerical jobs can be expected in 2017.
The number of jobs is expected to be around 20,000 for Clerical posts and 10,000 for PO/ Officer posts.
Apart from the govt & nationalized banks, many other private banks will publish recruitment notifications. The list includes ICICI Bank, Yes Bank, Axis Bank, Federal Bank etc. For such recruitments there is no compulsion for providing IBPS scores.
