– On July 31, 2025, Union Minister of Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal informed the Rajya Sabha that over 46 million (4.6 crore) cases are pending in various lower courts across India.
– DMK MP Kanimozhi NVN Somu had asked a related question, in response to which the minister presented this data.

Number of pending cases in different courts:
– Supreme Court: 86,723 cases
– All High Courts: 6,329,222 cases
– Lower Courts: Over 46 million cases
– 865 Fast Track Courts: 1,438,198 cases
– 488 Gram Nyayalayas or Village Courts notified, of which 331 are functional: 128,129 cases
