– After the 18th century, the Ahom rulers adopted the Hindu method of cremation and began burying the cremated bones and ashes in the Maidam of Charaideo.
– Out of the 386 Maidams discovered so far, 90 royal tombs in Charaideo represent the most systematically preserved, highly representative, and complete examples of the Ahom mound burial tradition.
