– Due to its environment resembling that of Mars and the Moon, this mission has been launched in Ladakh.
– The sandy, rocky soil in this region is similar to the soil of Mars and the Moon, which will allow research on the use of rovers and other space equipment.
What’s in the Mission?
– As part of the mission, one astronaut from AAKK Space Studio will remain inside the mission environment for 21 days.
– The mission includes an environment monitoring system, a setup for growing vegetables using water, and space-like lighting arrangements.
– ISRO wants to build its base station in space. This mission will help scientists understand how astronauts, robotic tools, and other space technologies will cope with the challenges of space.
ISRO’s Space Mission Calendar:
– 2024-25: Plan to send a human around the lunar orbit (Lunar Flyby) and return.
– 2026-27: Launch of the Chandrayaan-4 mission, with plans to collect and return samples from the Moon’s surface. After this, Chandrayaan-5, known as the LUPEX mission, will follow.
– 2028: A module of the Indian Space Station will be sent to space, along with indigenous spacecraft docking experiments (SPADEx), allowing two spacecraft to dock in space.
