a. 2.82%
b. 3.34%
c. 5.22%

Who Releases the Retail Inflation Rate Report?
– NSO (National Statistical Office) releases the retail inflation rate.

How is the Retail Inflation Rate Determined?
– It is determined through the Consumer Price Index (CPI).
– The CPI calculates inflation based on the price changes in food items, fruits, clothing, footwear, housing, fuel, electricity, and other goods and services.
– As consumers, we buy goods from the retail market. The CPI reflects the change in prices of these goods and services.
– It measures the average price we pay for a basket of goods and services over time.

How Does Inflation Affect Us?
– Inflation has a direct impact on purchasing power. For example, if the inflation rate is 6%, then the value of ₹100 earned is effectively only ₹94.
– Therefore, one should invest wisely keeping inflation in mind; otherwise, the value of your money will decrease over time.

How Does the RBI Control Inflation?
– To control inflation, the flow of money (liquidity) in the market is reduced.
– The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) does this by increasing or decreasing the repo rate.
– When inflation rises, the RBI increases the repo rate; and when inflation is very low, it reduces the repo rate.
– In recent times, inflation has been reported to be under control. As a result, in August, the RBI did not change the repo rate for the ninth consecutive time.

Inflation limit set by RBI
– The inflation limit set by RBI is 4 percent based on Consumer Price Index (CPI). However, it can increase or decrease by two percent.
– In this way, inflation less than 2 percent and inflation more than 6 percent is not good for the economic development of the country.
