Infrastructure
– 12 new expressways will be constructed in UP. Currently, 7 expressways are operational and 3 are under construction. After the construction of 12 new expressways, the total number will become 22.
– UP has 16 operational airports, including 12 domestic and 4 international airports. 8 airports are under construction. Once the under-construction international greenfield airport at Jewar becomes operational, UP will become the first state to have 5 international airports.
– Urbanization has increased: urban area was 22.3% in 2011, which increased to 27.6% in 2026. Urbanization is estimated to reach 29.5% in 2026 and 35.8% by 2046. There is a plan to develop “100 new townships.”
– The state also has a significant presence in inland waterways, as 11 national waterways pass through it, and the Varanasi multimodal terminal is already operational.

– Uttar Pradesh ranks first in tourist arrivals.
– The state has witnessed significant growth in tourism, with 64 crore visitors in 2024–25. This figure increased to more than 156 crore in 2025–26, mainly due to the Mahakumbh and religious tourism in Varanasi, Ayodhya, and Prayagraj.
